PurpleAir Sensors

PurpleAir is a popular air quality monitoring system designed for both professional and home use. These sensors are compact, easy to install, and provide real-time data via a cloud platform.

The most popular model is the PurpleAir Classic, equipped with two laser sensors for measuring PM2.5 levels (particulate matter with a diameter of up to 2.5 µm).

PurpleAir sensors provide high measurement accuracy at a relatively low cost, making them especially popular among volunteers and independent researchers. However, like all low-cost sensors, their accuracy may decrease under extreme conditions, such as high humidity or temperature.

The devices are equipped with Plantower PMS-5003 and BOSCH BME280 sensors.

A calibration formula has been developed for these sensors to adjust their data to US standards. Our website uses these calibrated values.
