Armenian Air Quality Index (ArmAQI) is a group of enthusiasts creating an independent air quality measurement system using open solutions. All collected data is published openly on the Sensor.Community website.
Both pre-assembled sensors and DIY kits for self-assembly are available for purchase. To get one, visit the “I want this sensor” section.
The device uses the affordable yet popular and highly reliable SDS011 particle sensor. Unfortunately, this sensor does not have high precision and is recommended for qualitative air quality assessment and tracking changes, but it can be calibrated.
The devices are equipped with Nova Fitness SDS011 and BOSCH BME280 sensors.
Sensors are usually installed on windows, which may affect measurement accuracy. Temperature readings in winter are often overestimated, but this placement reduces the impact of humidity, making particulate measurements more accurate.
PM2.5 pollution data from ArmAQI sensors is calibrated against data from Yerevan Municipality sensors. We update the calibration monthly as new data becomes available.
